Poltergeists

POLTERGEISTS

Poltergeist cases have been around for centuries. Poltergeist has been defined as a German word meaning “noisy ghost” but a literal translation is made up of the two German words poltern which means “to knock” and geist which means “spirit”. Poltergeist cases are defined by the sorts of activity reported. Things such as objects being thrown across a room, heavy furniture being slid across the floor, people being thrown out of bed and scratched, and pennies raining from the ceiling that materialize from thin air are examples of activity that occur. Unlike what Hollywood would have you believe, poltergeist cases are NOT caused by demonic spirits, in fact some believe they aren’t technically hauntings at all.

Today it is believed that poltergeist cases are caused by something called a human agent. The human agents were experiencing intense repressed anger, stress or hostility as well as sexual tension. Most human agents were girls going through puberty, although cases involving males and older women have also been recorded. The human agent is unaware that they are causing the activity and can even be adversely affected by it. However, many times the activity is directed towards another individual or family member living in the same house and the human agent is happy, inwardly or outwardly, that the person is having these things happen to them. Generally, the human agent can be identified simply by making note who is present when activity occurs and using a process of elimination. Once the human agent is identified and made aware that they may be the cause of the activity, usually events cease shortly thereafter. One of the most famous and highly documented poltergeist cases is the Enfield poltergeist case.
This belief isn't held by all however. Many investigators (including myself) believe most case of poltergeist activity are demonically caused. Unless your house is infested by many spirits feeding off of each other's energy... the only spiritual being that has the ability to move intensely heavy objects such as a refrigerator, or make objects manifest from no where, take objects and make them disappear... would be a demon.

Demons are master manipulators and liars. They will pose as a little child seeking attention, or a mischievous imp. Playing practical jokes, making it appear that someone in the residence is the human agent to isolate that person and turn the rest of the house against them. If you find poltergeist activity happening in your home – I would contact a priest for an exorcism of the house. But hey, that's just me.
