**EDIT**
2015 - please go to my YOUTUBE channel to see the update about this event. It is episode 1 of "My Paranormal Life". I need to fix Pioneer TV's Mistake. Grr.
Hey All!
Now that I'm done filming, I can talk a little about a Weather Channel special I got a chance to participate in.
It's for a new installment of "Strangest Weather" (I forgot to ask when it's suppose to air - as soon as I find out I'll let you know. I have an email to them, but they're on location through February to film other segments)
What happened was, I was approached by one of the production crew from a UK production company who did the other installment of the special, and they were interested in using the videos I posted of a phenomenon known as the Paulding Lights on youtube.
They asked if they could use the videos during their segment on the phenomenon, which of course was fine with me. They then asked if I could give them an onsite interview for the show. well heck yeah! They wanted me to talk about the paranormal angle of the lights.
So I packed up and went to stay in Watersmeet, MI at the Lac Vieux Desert resort and casino. The start of the trip was kind of a disaster. First I dropped my phone when I was heading back into my house to grab something I needed, landed face down and the screen shattered. Wouldn't be so bad if the phone wasn't a 2 week old replacement phone. Just a few weeks earlier I did THE EXACT SAME THING with my original phone, and paid a $100 deductible for my insurance. the original phone wasn't even a year old.
there were other "Can you be seriously happening right now" events, but I'll spare you the whining. LOL
So it wasn't a great start to the day.
That night I won $100 at the casino... not bad. But then the next morning I played it down to my original $40. (at least I broke even). Then, that afternoon I went to film my segment of the show. it was pretty fun.
First one of the crew got into my car with an ultra expensive looking camera. he had me drive up the road slowly while he asked me questions and filmed us driving up the road. Then I had to back up so he could film me driving up the road and getting out of the car. Then he filmed me in one direction explaining the phenomenon and what I found through my research, then filmed me in another direction explaining it a little more in detail, then filmed me in yet another direction, but this time asking specific questions for me to answer.
After that I got to do some modeling. They took photos of me standing in front of the viewing barricade, then they had me keep my feet still, but turn my body to follow the camera as he walked around me, then had me point out towards where the lights are seen, then do this walking towards the camera, then stop and cross my arms thing.
The last thing was when they stuck the video camera in my face and filmed me looking towards the lights, and into the woods, etc. The pics and that scene are for voice over narrations I guess.
That was it. Done and done.
It was funny though. it was a balmy 31 degrees... so I figured, meh... it's warm enough to go with just my sweater. They're all bundled up in thick coats and hats and gloves. For the most part, I wasn't that cold, but when it came time to sign the agreement, I realized my hands were red as a beet, and completely frozen numb. my signature and phone number looked like a toddler's writing. Took over an hour for my hands to go back to normal. that will teach me for trying to be cool and worrying about fashion over comfort. (I looked so freakin adorable, I didn't want to ruin it with a bulky winter coat)
Anyway. As soon as I know when the special is on, I will let you know. It was quite a fun experience.
I went on to win $70 at the casino. (was down to my last $4. so I left $30 ahead) not bad.
(Got a new hairstyle. My hair has finally started getting longer after it was shaved because of a skin cancer thing. So colored it blonde, and tried a new look. Came out good. did my makeup all fancy, got a mic put on, the guys getting set up with equipment, the casino where I stayed, and a souvenir $1 token. For some reason, it came out of a machine, but wouldn't go back in because it was too thick. So I kept it instead. lol)
