The Choirs

 ANGEL / DEMON HIERARCHY

There are 9 choir of angels -

Seraphim – the highest level of angels that attend God's throne

Cherubim – the second highest level of angels in the 9 choirs.

Thrones – they are pure peace, humility and submission. Lower angels (the ones listed below) need the Thrones to have access to God.

Dominions – they are the leaders of the angels – giving angels lower in the choir, the commands of God, and they regulate the duties of the angels

Virtues – they are in charge of all of nature – the sun/moon/stars/even the seasons on earth are subject to their command. They are even in charge of Miracles.

Powers – warriors against evil, defending the cosmos and humanity. They fight against the evil that try to use humans to wreak chaos.

Archangels – better known because of angels such as St. Michael, St. Raphael, St. Gabriel. They are special messengers of God and were there during principle moments like the Annunciation of Mary, and in the apocalypse. Catholics have a feast day celebrating these angels. St. Michael is the Chief of Princes who is the leader in the triumph over Satan. Gabriel was at the annunciation of Mary when she learned she was to give birth to Christ. St. Raphael appears in the book of Tobit and stated “I am the angel Raphael, one of the seven who stands before the throne of God”. Archangels are held special to many Christians as protectors and saints.

Principalities - their duty also is said to be to carry out the orders given to them by the Dominions and bequeath blessings to the material world. Their task is to oversee groups of people. They are the educators and guardians of the realm of earth.

Angels - these angels are closest to the material world and human begins. They deliver the prayers to God and God's answers and other messages to humans. Angels have the capacity to access any and all other Angels at any time. They are the most caring and social to assist those who ask for help. They are often referred to as, our Guardian angels

When Lucifer fell, with him those angels who joined him in rebelled against God also fell. However, they maintained their angelic knowledge and hierarchy. Thus, demonic hierarchy falls as:

Principalities – Demons (rather than angels) – Powers – Thrones – Virtues – Arch-demons (rather than Archangels, such as belzubub and the leviathan) All the creatures in the demonic hierarchy are in direct opposition to God and his angels. Where Principalities of God are educators and guardians of the earth.. Principalities of demons are deceivers and they corrupt humanity.

Satan is the leader of the Demonic Hierarchy.

In Heaven Satan, known as Lucifer, was the most beautiful creation of God's. He was the highest ranking angel above all others. There is some debate on if he's considered a fallen Arch-Angel or a Seraphim since the Seraphim are a few choirs above Archangels...  However, Lucifer's high rank led to the sin of pride, which eventually caused him to rebel against God. The Arch Angel Michael was sent to end the rebellion, and thus Lucifer and all those who stood with him fell from heaven and became separate from God.

Because God is love, he does not hate the demons, only the sin which caused them to be forever separated from him. Demons however are pure hate and can not find love for their creator, nor have any desire to repent. They both mourn the loss of the God, as well as hate him. thus, they suffer.

Archangel Michael is the angel that will fight Satan in the end times, and that is why St. Michael is the patron saint of Demonologists, Exorcists and Paranormal investigators.
